Sunday 08/05/11 : IESCC Under 13's v WOOLPIT B (H)

IES 60a.o Woolpit B 71-5 Result Woolpit won by 11 Runs.

The under 13’s played their first league game at the park and unfortunately started the game with only 9 players due to call offs.Woopit batted first and scored 71 runs this was due to some good bowling from Emraj,Oscar,Kieran Keiffer and Tom. Chasing a modest total only 3 players troubled the scorers. Harry batted extremely well to open the batting but three ‘ducks’ left the scoreboard looking very sad!! However a superb innings from Emraj [32] took the IES score nearer Woolpit’s total and despite Tom’s 8 runs towards the end of the innings IES fell agonisingly short.

Thursday 12/5/11 IESCC Under 15's v KESGRAVE

IES 92 a.o Kesgrave 102-5 result Kesgrave won by 10 Runs.

The Under 15’s travelled to Kesgrave for their first league match. Having lost the toss IES bowled first and initially had trouble controlling the new ball. On a hard wicket and fast outfield IES did well to keep Cosgrave down to 102.Pick of our bowlers were Michael Griffin and Shudder Deb. IES started their reply with George and Erma batting confidently putting on 32 for the first wicket. With Dan Allum and Emraj at the crease things looked promising until Dan was well caught.Emraj then departed for a well made 22 before a middle order collapse gave the initiative back to Kesgrave. However spirited batting from Kyle [14] and Michael [11] gave us a chance of an unlikely win BUT it was not to be as we fell just 10 runs short. However a lot of positives cam out of the game

Monday 16/5/11 IESCC Under 11's v HADLEIGH

IES 279 Hadleigh 271 [Scores start at 200] Result IES won by 8 runs

As both teams were weakened by non availability it was decided to play the game as a friendly.Hadleigh batted first with the pickoff our bowlers being Oscar and Keelam.Everybody else bowled BUT with varying degrees of accuracy!!!.Special mention to Connor who kept wicket for the first time and acquitted himself well taking an excellent catch and letting through very few byes. Batting in pairs Henry and Keelam got us off to a good start without getting out and they were followed by Arran and Paul, with Arran hitting some lusty blows [very reminisant of his dad!!!] Connor and Charlotte carried on the good work with the highlight of the partnership being Charlotte’s leg side hit for 4!! Finally Oscar and George came to the crease and after a shaky start from Oscar moved the score along with George showing maturity by taking well run singles to give Oscar the Strike. The last over saw Oscar dispatching the ball to all corners of the ground to ensure an IES win

MOM Oscar Beardwood BUT credit to all the team for a fine performance.

Thursday 19/5/11 IESCC Under 11's v BURY ST EDMUNDS

IES 269 Bury St.Edmunds 303

The Under 11’s travelled to play a strong Bury side. Bury batted first and amassed an impressive total of 303.The highlight for IES on the bowling front was that in the 20 overs bowled there were only 3 wides bowled. Pick of the bowlers were Keelam, Keeley and Oscar but everyone else played their part. Once again Connor performed with credit behind the stumps. In reply IES started positively with Henry and Keelam almost reaching their target for the partnership. However against some excellent Bury bowling IES struggled to keep up with the run rate, losing wickets on a regular basis. This left the final pair of Oscar and George with a mountain to climb. However some impressive batting by Oscar, including two towering 6’s and some intelligent batting by George ensured that we finished with a respectable score of 269

Monday 23/5/11 IESCC Under 15's v ST MARGARETS (H)

IES 96 for 3 St Margarets 95 for 5 Result IES won by 7 wkts.

The Under 15’s returned to league action with a home game against St. Margarets.St Margarets batted first and scored a useful 95 runs. For IES Michael Griffin was the leading wicket taker once again with 2 for 14 in his 4 allotted overs.Jamie and Jack both bowled their 4 overs, only giving away 16 runs between them. IES gave the opposition at least 20 runs with some sloppy fielding. In reply IES lost both George and Emraj cheaply followed by Kyle. However a 58 run partnership between Captain Dan and Joe saw us romp home in 12 overs with Dan undefeated on 41.

MOM Daniel Allum

Tuesday 24/5/11 IESCC Under 11's v EAST BERGHOLT (A)

East Bergholt. 238 IES 289 Result IES won by 51 Runs

The Under 11 travelled to East Bergholt for their second league game. Batting first Henry and Keelam got us off to a solid start. However the next two pairs only added a further 7 Runs to our total losing 5 wickets. It was left to Arran and Keeley to add 35 runs before both Oscar and George added a further 30. This gave us an excellent total to defend. As in the Bury game IES bowling was again very accurate with everybody bowling at least 2 overs.Tom making his debut bowled well and took his first IES wicket as did Charlotte whilst Connor had another excellent game behind the stumps not conceding any byes! All in all an excellent team performance from everyone. And thanx once again to all the parents who came along to support and encourage the team.

Thursday 2/6/11 IESCC Under 11's v HADLEIGH (H)

IES 212 Hadleigh 270 Result Hadleigh won by 58 Runs

A much changed squad entertained Hadleigh at the Park. Without the influential Oscar as Captain, Arran Pryke stepped into the captain’s shoes and did a very good job despite his lack of experience.IES batted first and as Usual Henry and Keelan got us off to a promising start but unfortunately the following pairs lost 7 wkts between them leaving IES with a very modest total.Hadleigh went about their batting task in a very positive manner and it soon became clear that they would rack up a large total. Once again IES bowling was accurate but not so penetrative and it was left to ‘Girl Power’ to take the 3 wickets that fell with one each to Keeley, Charlotte and Paige [who was making her debut].

Sunday 5/6/11 : IESCC Under 13's v WOOLPIT B (A)

IES 85-2 Woolpit 86-3 Result Woolpit won by 7 wickets.

With Emraj’s withdrawal on Sat evening Jamie captained the side for the league visit to Woolpit. There were also debuts for Alex, Nathaniel and Jacob. IES batted first and Harry and Oscar got us off to a quick start before Oscar fell cheaply. This brought Nathaniel to the crease and after a nervy start both he and Harry moved the score along. With Harry batting with confidence and maturity the partnership flourished and was eventually broken when Harry had to retire on an excellent and faultless 30 with the score on 85.Nathaniel soon followed for a promising 24.Having posted a very respectable score IES took to the field BUT on a hard wicket and lightening fast outfield Woolpit gradually whittled down the score with their number 3 retiring at 30 and others adding useful runs they passed IES score with 4 overs remaining. For IES Nathan picked up 2 wkts and Jamie 1, whilst Kieran bowled his 4 overs without any luck

MOM Harry Burman.

Sunday 12/6/11 IESCC Under 15's v FELIXSTOWE (H)

IES 115 for 7 Felixstowe 79 for 10 Result IES won by 36 runs

IES batted first in this re-arranged league game and made a positive start with Emraj striking the ball confidently until he ‘holed’ out for a ‘quick-fire’14.Kyle soon followed LBW and it was left to Dan and young Harry to steady the ship putting on 49 runs before Harry was unluckily run out. With Dan batting confidently the score moved on until Dan was out for 41.The lower order added valuable runs to give IES a competitive total to bowl at,. With the rain clouds gathering, Felixstowe made a good start with C.Warne punishing some lose bowling. However the introduction of ‘spin king’Michael soon put the brakes on and wickets began to tumble. With Warne still at the crease Felixstowe were always in with a chance But with wickets tumbling at regular intervals at the other end he soon began to run out of partners. Eventually he went for a valiant 47 and with Jack mopping up the ‘tail’ with 3 wkts in 4 balls IES recorded another victory.IES bowlers Michael 2 for 8,Jack 3 for 9,Shudeep 2 for 16

Monday 13/6/11 IESCC Under 11's v COPDOCK & OI's (H)

IES 231 Copdock and OI’s 314 Result Copdock and OI’s won by 83 runs

IES entertained a strong Copdock side at the park. With only 9 players IES drafted in Daniel who came to watch to make up the team.IES bowled first and made a promising start taking 2 Copdock wickets in the first 2 overs.IES bowled accurately only giving away 5 wides in the 20 overs.Copdock batted well and soon rattled up a big score with the short boundaries. Wicket takers for IES were George, Charlotte, Daniel and Oscar with 1 wkt a piece. At the end of the innings Copdock had made an impressive 314.In reply IES batted slowly with Henry/Paul and Tom/Keeley not giving away any wkts and after 8 overs we were only 10 runs behind Copdock. However the next three pairs only added 3 runs between them!!![No names here!!!] to leave IES well and truly beaten.

Monday 20/6/11 IESCC Under 15's v COPDOCK & OI's (A)

Copdock & OI’s 185 for 2 IES 109 for 1 Result Copdock & OI’s won by 76 runs

IES entered the game knowing that they would have a tough job on their hands if they were to overcome a strong Copdock & OI’s XI.IES’s cause was not helped by the late withdrawal of captain Dan who’s place was taken by Harry.Copdock batted first and amassed a huge total [185] thanks to some very short and wayward leg side bowling and some extremely lethargic fielding [Harry accepted].Jamie bowled his usual accurate spell BUT the less said about the other bowlers, the better!! In fact IES took the field already beaten and with a less than positive attitude. However words between innings from the Coach asked for sensible and responsible batting and George and Emraj duly obliged with Copdocks’s opening bowlers catching the IES waywardness. As the innings progressed both batsmen grew in confidence and with some excellent stroke play and running between the wickets the total grew encouragingly, until an opening partnership of 100 was recorded. Unfortunately George could not last the twenty overs, BUT there was enough time for Emraj to score his maiden 50 for the club off the last ball of the game.

Tuesday 21/6/11 : IESCC Under 13's v STOWMARKET (A)

Stowmarket 56 a/o IES 58 for 0 Result IES win by 10 wkts.

Tuesday the Under 13’s travelled to Stowmarket and found themselves up against a very young and inexperienced Stowmarket side.Stowmarket batted first and were soon in troubled against the bowling of Jamie, Tom and Kieran.Keeley came into the side and bowled 4 very tight overs and Alex C improved after a very wayward first over.Infact only 4 runs of Stowmarket’s total of 56 came off the bat!.IES soon knocked off the runs with Emraj [19],Harry [14] retiring to give others a bat but Nathaniel and Oscar hit some lusty blows to see us home to win by 10 wkts.

Friday 24/6/11 : IESCC Under 13's v COPDOCK & OI's (A)

IES 137 for 6 Copdock 118 for 5 Result IES win by 19 runs.

For their second game in a week IES travelled to Copdock BUT with only 9 players!! Thanks to Copdock lending us a player we took to the field with 10 and batted first. As usual both Harry and Emraj got us off to a flying start with an opening partnership of 51 before H was adjudged LBW.This brought Qaddir to the crease and his batting was a revelation!! Both he and Emraj had to retire on 30 allowing others to bat and it was Oscar who kept the score going with a well constructed 22 before being bowled. In reply Copdock started slowly against some accurate IES bowling. Tom and Kieran bowled well and with Oscar, Jacob and Declan bowling for the first time this season IES contained Copdock until the final overs when some excellent batting almost saw them reach the IES total. An excellent game played in the right spirit! Well done to both sets of players/

Monday 27/6/11 : IESCC Under 13's v STOWMARKET (H)

IES 160 for 7 Stowmarket 69 for 8 Result IES won by 91 runs.

The under 13’s play Stowmarket for the second time in a week and recorded another emphatic win.Put into bat IES lost both Harry and Oscar cheaply.Jamie released from his bowling duities made a useful 17 BUT it was both Qaddir and Emraj who took the score along with some big hitting. As in the previous match both had to retire at 30 allowing others to bat but not really troubling the scorers.Stowmarket contributed to the high score with some inaccurate bowling. In reply Stowmarket never looked likely to threaten the IES score despite some wayward bowling from the home side’s bowlers [Emraj excepted!].In fact some of the home side’s play became very sloppy and casual once the result became inevitable

MOM: Emraj Chowdhury.

(picture)

Friday 1/7/11 IESCC Under 11's v WOOLPIT (H)

IES 231 Woolpit 259 Result Woolpit won by 28 runs.

IES entertained Woolpit at the park in a re-arranged league fixture and lost out by 28 runs due to the fact that we gave away too many wickets [11 to be precise].Batting first IES lost wickets at regular intervals throughout their innings and it was only Morgan and Keeley who completed their four overs without losing a wicket whilst at the same time scoring the most runs. In reply Woolpit got off to a steady start and by the 8th over had overtaken the IES score. Despite wickets from Morgan [2] and Oscar [1] Woolpit won fairly comfortably without having really to extend themselves. For IES it was a case of not losing wickets that cost them dearly

Monday 4/7/11 : IESCC Under 13's v COPDOCK & OI's (A)

IES 120 for 9 Copdock 124 for 9 Result Copdock and OI’s won by 4 runs!!

After a close encounter at Copdock, IES expected another competitive game when the two sides met at Chantry Park. Copdock batted first and after 5 overs had raced to 42 runs. However the introduction of both Keeley and Keiffer to the attack slowed the run rate down.Copdock still managed to move the score along helped by some sloppy IES fielding which at the end of the day was to prove costly. When Copdock’s innings concluded they had made 124. IES in reply started confidently with in form Emraj batting confidently and despite losing Harry after 28 runs IES were well on course for another victory. However with Emraj having to retire on 31 and Qaddir soon following IES lost the impetus and it was not until Jamie and Oscar came together that the run chase got back on track. In the gathering gloom IES lost wickets in their run chase, unfortunately finishing 4 runs short. A great game of cricket between two evenly balanced teams.
